Today is my 5th day without Caffeine in any shape, form, or fashion! Man, it has been rough!! The first 3 and half days were miserable, my head felt as if it were literally splitting in to and I was very irritable, just ask Amanda. But now it is day 5 and yesterday I did not have a headache and I was not irritable (nothing above the norm anyway;)). So, I hope I have made it past the point of giving in. I guess it was Saturday, Amanda and I were about to go and grab a bite to eat when my head was POUNDING!! I can remember thinking and even telling her that I am going to just have one Diet Coke at the restaurant. Then it hit me....at that moment I realized that if I was hurting to the point that I was ready to give in and the caffeine which I was used to consuming was controlling the way I felt so much....my body did not need it and I with the strength of God was going to make it through. Some of you may be laughing right now, but in my mind this is serious. Caffeine can be like a drug that can control you and they way you feel and when you are not using it can make you feel terrible!! That is not the way it should be!! For those of you who know me know that I am a guy that once I have set my mind on something that is what I have done....set my mind on it!! I am here to tell you I could not and would not be able to do the things I have done if it were not because of God! In Habbakuk 3:19 it says, "The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights. For the director of music. On my stringed instruments." With out the strength of God I would not be able to do the things I do. It is my prayer that he will give me the strength I need to carry me through my struggles and that I will be bold enough to call out HIS name in help and strength!! Day 5, this day could not have come with out God's strength in me and I pray that there will be many other days to add to this one. I also pray that God will use me in a way that I can continue to discipline myself for better service to him!!
Looking forward to Day 6- Nick
