Feeling Guilty....Psalm 32:5

This morning I was talking to a friend of mine and we (I really should say she) have been working and letting the Spirit guide us in preparation and study for a class this Spring dealing with the "not so easy" subject of Purity and Purification. Our study, has led us to places that I know I never imagined (because the Spirit has a tendency to do that) and we have seen and read tons of material that I really wish I had never read! It is scary to think about all the sin in our lives and all the guilt that we have (especially those of us who are trying to live for God each day) for committing that sin over and over again. She and I were talking about our focal point of our class, which happens to be the main point of the New Testament and the Covenant that Jesus Christ established....that in my words sounds something like this- through the blood of Jesus and the POWER of the Cross and Resurrection and by having FAITH in Him we are PURE! We are free from the guilt and the gloom of sin....Now we just have to remember that! Every time we kick ourselves for something we did (sometimes years and years ago), every time we get down on ourselves and start to feel that overwhelming sense of guilt and gloom because we cannot be who we want to be and who we want others to think we are!

Several months ago I was studying and reading in the book of Psalm and was led to the 32nd Psalm one that David wrote...this particular Psalm written in response to the forgiveness that David received after the terrible downard spiral he went when he walked out on his roof one night and saw Bathsheba bathing....verse 5 says this, "Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the Lord- and you forgave the guilt of my sin.'" There it is forgiveness of the "guilt of my sin"! I guess the saying "confession is good for the soul" is true and it is needed! Only God can get rid of the guilt we have in our souls and minds....only God can forgive us and forget about the slip ups we had years ago. It all goes back to the CROSS and the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ!

I am so thankful that the Holy Spirit is alive and working today! I am so thankful that the Holy Spirit will lead us and guide us to where we can see things more clearly! I am so thankful for the forgiveness of God and the love of His son! It is my prayer for myself and you that we will not cover up our iniquities and we will confess our transgressions so the LORD who is Mighty and our Wonderful Counselor can forgive us of the guilt of our sins!!

I hope you have a blessed day and Holidays too!!

  1. VERY GOOD, Nicholas, you have put into words what we all need in our hearts, forgiveness. My problem I think is I do forgive, but it is sometimes very difficult to forget. I do pray to forget as well. I am so grateful that God does both. David made many mistakes, and God forgave him. He in the end was known as a man after God's own heart. Thanks for sharing your thoughts we us. May God continue to bless you, and your family.
