What a weekend....
Amanda, Lily, Lady (our dog), and myself were blessed with a fantastic weekend. We were able to spend some time in the wonderful thriving metropolis of Searcy, Arkansas. I would have to say the most important and the best part about this weekend was not the venue, but with whom we shared it with....Rusty, Nancy, Anna, Justin, Jenny, Chandler, Avery, Mimi, and cameo appearances by Rick, Teresa, Hannah, and Austin Brown....and Ned, Sandra, and Annabelle. We had a great time, just as we always do!!
During our weekend in Searcy I was reminded, just as I always am, how very blessed I am (particularly myself) to have such a great set of in-laws. I really do love Rusty and Nancy! They are really great people and they are really great parents. I find myself thinking and wondering each time when we leave them or they leave us....How can we get them closer to us? Amanda and I spent a long portion of the ride back discussing this and how we could convince them to come over to the Nashville area!! We realized that we may just be out of luck! But we are praying in secret for it to happen ;)!!
While in Searcy, I was able to drive down to the campus of Harding University. I was blessed with 5 great years there and some great memories came flooding back. I was able to catch a glimpse of the Bison Football team leaving the field after morning practice....something that only for a quick second I missed! I had a great experience at Harding, I went not knowing a soul and came away with friendships that will last a lifetime and even in to eternity!! Harding will always have a special place in my heart....and who knows I could see myself one day working on that great campus!! Who knows where God will lead us!! Searcy, like many small college towns has a certain family type atmosphere. I love that feeling! I know most of the students and especially those who have lived there many years of their life may not recognize it, but it really is a great place. Yeah, every town has its good and bad, but I believe what Harding has added to Searcy is a tremendous blessing to that small tight knit Arkansas community!! It is always been a mystery to me, but playing football and seeing some guys come in and never for one minute feel like they belong in that small town, yet they still live there many years after they COULD have left. They have raised a family there and for the most part many of them die there!! See Searcy and more importantly Harding has a lot to offer, not only a good wholesome top notch education, but it can (if you let it) help mold and change your life into a TRUE servant for God!!
What a weekend!! Now this week should fly by too! Looks like it may be only 1 night of supper at the McNabb house. I am going to Cookeville tomorrow to speak at the Christian Student House sponsored by Sycamore church of Christ and it looks like Thursday will be our only night to make to the WILSON COUNTY FAIR!!
Hope your Monday is GREAT!
Nick
